The Cape
For the past couple of years my husband’s family has held their family reunion in beautiful Cape Cod, which provides endless opportunity for beautiful photos. Beautiful scenery and beautiful people…

And we’re back!

Well it’s been a bit, but the blog is back up! In the coming days and weeks you’ll see new posts about all kinds of sweet and fun things, such as guitar cupcakes, fun boutonnieres I made for a friends wedding (sneak peek above), yellow and white wedding centerpieces and even recovered dining room chairs! I’m so excited about all the fun stuff going on and can’t wait to share it with you! Stay tuned…

Fancy Nancy and Pinkalicious cupcakes

In the world of little boys, there’s no pink, no frills and no sparkle. So I jumped at the chance to make cupcakes for a friend’s beautiful twin girls’ birthday party. The theme? Fancy Nancy and Pinkalicious. Two names I’ve never heard, given that I am mama to a little boy. As you can imagine, I was very excited to see what we could come up with. The girls were present at the guitar party (which I’ll be posting about soon. I was too excited to get a girly-something up), so their mom and dad had already sampled the Raspberry cupcake. The raspberry cupcake is a vanilla butter cake with raspberry filling and a lovely cream cheese frosting. And here’s the result:
I wanted to mix things up a bit by leaving some cupcakes simply decorated with frosting and edible glitter, some with just a flower or cherry accent, and some with a full fondant top, complete with glitter. I’m not personally a fan of eating fondant, but I love what you can do with it from a design perspective.

Brownie Fudge Sundae Cupcakes

Ok, so I had to make a special cupcake for my husband’s birthday this year. I’ve been playing with different recipes and this event could not disappoint. He loves brownies more than anyone I know. So I decided to create a cupcake with brownie chunks in the cake batter. Yes, you heard me. Two desserts in one. Brownie + cupcake. The brownies were in a chocolate cake, the cake then dipped in a chocolate ganache and all that topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Yum. Brownie fudge sundae in a cupcake.
